Applied DNA Sciences Signs Reseller Agreement with Action-Pak, Inc.
Leading US Commercial & Military Contract Packaging Provider to Offer Anti-Counterfeiting DNA-based Products, Labels and Solutions
STONY BROOK, NY. November 17, 2016 - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (Applied DNA) (NASDAQ: APDN), a provider of DNA-based supply chain, anti-counterfeiting and anti-theft technology, product genotyping and product authentication solutions, has signed a reselling partnership agreement with Action-Pak, Inc. a contract packaging services provider for military and commercial supply chains.
Action-Pak will be offering DNA-based products, starting with tamper-evident labels that feature SigNature® DNA with Beacon™ optical technology. The packager will also stock Beacon kits which will allow for supply chain participants to perform rapid in-field validation of DNA labels. Future plans include additional in-field validation kits, including Applied DNA's proprietary Multi-Mode Reader.
Action-Pak participated in a logistics pilot project that used SigNature DNA labels as part of a cloud-based "track and trace" simulation under Applied DNA's recently completed Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) contract. The pilot project proved out validation and authentication solutions the packaging provider will be offering to customers as commercial, ready-to-use products.
Ira J. Smith, Action-Pak CEO and President, commented, "Having participated with Applied DNA in a successful pilot of their forensic authentication and tracking solution, and recently selling DNA labels to a Prime defense contractor, we are delighted to offer this solution to both military and commercial customers. Although our immediate focus is supporting and delivering a solution for military suppliers, we are keen to introduce this technology to our entire customer base which spans from food to pharmaceuticals to retail consumer goods. We strongly believe that DNA will become a low-cost solution for preventing counterfeit products from entering the supply chain."
Bob MacDowell, Applied DNA Director of Government and Military Programs, added, "Action-Pak services a broad base of military, industrial and commercial suppliers that touch multiple industries. As we transition work performed under our US Government contracts into fully commercialized products and solutions, our go-to-market strategy includes distribution via key channel partners, such as Action-Pak."
Action-Pak has been servicing U.S. Government suppliers since 1979, with over 250,000 square feet of FDA, food and non-food grade facilities. Action-Pak complies with military, government and commercial standards that meet or exceed ISO requirements. A resident government inspector is stationed at the facility to ensure quality control. In addition, Action-Pak is FDA registered, organic certified, and UL inspected for relabeling & 510 K medical kit assembly.
